For over 25 years, Front Runners New York has had some very creative and innovative fundraisers to keep its budget and financial position sound and stable.
For six years, Front Runners New York hosted a Variety Show to help fundraise money for the club and to showcase the members' non-running talents. The last Variety Show was held on April 29th, 2005, where comedian Lea Delaria performed as the main guest performer. Other performers were Keith Jameson, Cady Huffman, Gay Men's Chorus, and many others.
In 2006, several FRNY Women fundraised money for the club by guest bartending at a beverage booth at the annual Rapture on the River party during New York City Pride Weekend in late June. This party is held at pier 54 and is geared towards the ladies.
Front Runners New York has also had other "variety show" events as fundraisers. In the 1980s, members performed as Runnettes and Shangri-Lezzies (FRNY gay and lesbian drag groups, respectively. The runnettes are shown at right.) FRNY members have also auctioned dates and shaved off his/her hair to help fundraise money for the club and FRNY Foundation.
